Haha! This comic is very appropriate for today. Laura and I have 1st hour devotions on Mondays, and they are in the white chapel. We got there and sat down, and I crossed one of my legs under, and had the other one hanging down over it. I was into what I was reading, so I never resituated until I heard everyone packing up. When i started packing up, I realized I couldn't even move my foot at all! I stood up and just let it pretty much drop to the floor. (thankfully most everyone was out of the chapel by then except for me, Laura, and megan). Laura went out to get something quick, and megan waited for me to slowly drag myself over to her. Then my leg started to tingle, and I had to just stand there. Megan thought I was kidding, and grabbed me and pulled me forward, and the immediate and painful tingling froze me right there for a long time! We were laughing, though :) Then Laura came in and we were ready to get going to pick her parents up for breakfast. I told them to go ahead and start without me till my leg was working again. It was so wierd when I could finally walk a little bit, it was like it wasn't my leg! haha! I had to really think about what I was making it do so it wouldn't give out under me! Moral of the story: don't sit on your leg for more than 35 minutes! haha!

Baby Berkley
This is my little Berkley boy. He is supposed to be substituting as my nephew. This is when he was a little cutie baby puppy, but now he's pretty much all grown up. I still see him/talk to him on the web cam/phone when I'm talking to Jason and Julia, and he "speaks" back to me ;) hee, hee! I said a long time ago (when I posted about Josie) that I was going to post about Berkley. Well, the internet was pretty much down all afternoon, and so I didn't get to post anything - so I got a lot of homework done, which is good - but now I'm going to have to postpone this update again for later this week. So stay tuned!
Dad's Idea
Last semester Julie had an opportunity to write a children's book, and took it. I'm so glad she did. She based the book on a childhood memory. We had cows when we were growing up, and when we were little we all always wanted horses, but Dad said they weren't very useful cause you can't eat them. We, of course, though, argued that they are useful because you can ride them! Then Dad told us that you can ride cows, too! So we kids rode our cows. :) Anyways, Julie wrote the story all cute, and drew the illustrated pictures for the book. It's so special! Jennifer has the book in a basket by her and Jordan's entertainment center, and when we were there with a bunch of girlfriends (for my b-day party:), Audrey was babysitting this little boy, Josiah (one of the teachers' kids). We were all around the table talking, and he wandered right over and picked up the book all on his own and started looking at it, and pointing to the pictures, and saying, "what's that?", "look at that!". It was so cute! So I sneaked up and took a picture of him - SO CUTE! Anyways, I knew Julie's book would be a seller ;) Write another one, Jules! You're the best children's book author I know! :)

Voices of Praise
I'm going to be updating my blog probably this weekend, but until then, I decided to blog something quick. I recently got over my cold, so I have enjoyed singing again, and didn't realize how much I'd missed it until Julie came to visit last weekend for my birthday, and we sang "Thy Face I Seek, O Lord" in church. It was so fun to be able to sing into the night the night before, and then to be able to sing in church together. It's been so long! Anyways, it made me think of all the fun we used to have singing with "The Voices of Praise" (a.k.a. VOP). It's so fun to look back on all the times we shared together from our all night singing slumber parties, and summertime picnics and singing in the band shelter at the park, to all the awesome opportunities the Lord gave us to minister together at different schools, churches, on tv, and then one year, we even got to make a cd! Even though it's not the greatest cd ever, it's fun to listen to, and remember the fun we had making it! And the opportunities it has provided are more than I thought would be. It's been awesome to see how the Lord has used it. I hope that someday we girls can get together and do it again - and girls, we still need to go to the ocean ;) Jenn, you weren't supposed to get married till we went on our VOP road trip! Oh well, Jordan will just have to know he's going to have to let you go for awhile when it works out ;) hee, hee! I'm glad I get to see Jenn and Laura every day still, but I miss you other 3 SO much! You girls just will have to come up and visit sometime, k? :)

Friday's Comic :)
Laura and I had fun looking at the old garfield cartoons, and found the ones that were issued on the exact days we were born. It was kind of funny how appropriate they are. I SO hate spiders - and Laura...well, you'll just have to stay tuned, and you'll see hers when I post it on her birthday! Hee, hee! :)
Brrrrr...
Tonight: Flurries and a few snow showers throughout the night.

Thursday's Comic :)
Yes, it's true. All we've been hearing since yesterday is that we're going to be getting a whole lot of snow! So far, we're still good, but there's 70% chance today that we will get quite an accumulation of snow! This cartoon made me laugh - kind of made me think of you, mom! hee, hee! ;) You guys be safe driving there in Minnesota, cause I know you're getting lots of snow, too!

Happy 19th Birthday, Charity! :)
This is my dear friend, Charity Dawn Schofield. Her and I met when her dad came to intern at our church in the fall of 2000. Our friendship grew from there, and I feel like I've known her WAY longer than that! But then in away - I can't believe it's already been 5 and a half years since we first met. I'm so thankful the Lord brought her into my life. He knew I needed a friend like her. Thank you so much Charity for being a godly friend who has only ever influenced and challenged me through your life to know God more. You have been such an encouragement to me always, and I'm so thankful for all the memories and good times we've already stored up. I'm going to miss you while you're traveling over spring break and summer, but I'm excited you have this opportunity! As soon as you get back, though - we HAVE to get together :) Anybody who reads this post, if you want to say happy birthday to Charity - just leave her a birthday note in the post a comment box. I love you so much, Charity! I hope you had a really wonderful happy birthday! ;) xo
This is Laura, me, and Charity this summer at one of our church picnics not long before we all headed off to college. It was such a beautiful day - makes me want to jump into the picture! hee, hee! ;) It's so fun when we all get to be together. Can't wait till we can do that again!

History of Valentine's Day: The eternal lover that gave us the famous word 'Valentine' and originated the tradition of writing love letters on this day, is believed to be Bishop Valentine. He was a priest in Rome when, the city was ruled by 'Claudius the Cruel'. Inspite of the fact that Claudius had forbidden Christian conversions and Christian marriages, the Bishop refused to surrender to Roman Gods and carried on his religious duties in secret. He was imprisoned for disobedience, but even in prison he converted the convicts. While he was in prison, the jailer's daughter became his friend and was loyal to him through his ordeal. When Claudius came to know that imprisonment had not broken his enduring Christian spirit, the bishop was executed. However, on the day of his death Valentine wrote a note to his friend, 'the jailer's daughter' and signed it - 'From Your Valentine'. This great man who died for his beliefs, for his enduring love of the Christian God, was chosen as the patron Saint of lovers. 14th February has since been celebrated as Valentine's Day. Romantic souls all over the world have preferred to focus on the romantic twist of this tale, the story of the man who united lovers in the holy bond of marriage; a man who loved his jailer's daughter and started the tradition of writing love notes.
Love Poem:
Were the whole realm of nature mine,
That were a present far too small:
Love so amazing, so divine
Demands my soul, my life, my all. - Isaac Watts

Laura and I
I finally got a recent picture of Laura and I. Sorry it took me so long! We haven't been good at all about taking pictures every day like we did last semester, but we will try to improve. We're both still trying to get back into our routines - lately we've been rushing out the door, and if we don't take pictures in the morning, we either forget late - or don't look at all like picture material! haha! We're having a great second semester so far, and for all those of you who doubted that we should room together - we're still best friends! ;) In fact, last night we stayed up till almost 2 laughing and chatting. It was like we were at junior camp again, and couldn't keep our mouths shut - and everything was funny! Our poor roommates. It's a good thing it's a weekend ;) Anyways, we miss you all back home! Only 34 more days till we see you! yay! (Mom - the flip chart you made me is awesome! You're the BEST! :)
Saturday's Comic :)
It's finally Saturday! Yay! I've really been looking forward to Saturday this week! This is already the end of our third week, yet it was only our first full week of classes. I thought this comic was appropriate for a Saturday, because Saturday is always laundry day, and usually a cozy day. One of the coziest things is warm laudry. hee, hee! I usually keep one of the towels out as a blanket until it's not warm anymore. :) And it is true, it's a sad reality of life when you come to the realization that it's just as much room temperature as anything else in the room ;) haha!

Friends & Family at Church
Well, today I finally had time to blog some actual pictures again :) This is the first Sunday of 2006. The first one is Laura and I, then Julie and her friend Kasee Jenson, then Sara and Charise. We also took our family picture - our family is getting so big! It's so exciting! I can't wait for us all to be together again! Maybe over spring break? That would be awesome! Even sooner than I could have hoped for! :) Only 35 days till then! yay!

Here are my last Josie pictures that I am posting ;) One of the last days I was home I felt like going out and playing in the snow, so I went out by Josie's barn and built a snowman to keep Josie company while I'm back here at school. hee, hee! And that night I went sledding with the Schofields at the great Granada sledding hill ;) But anyways, that morning when I got out there, the snow was unpackable, so I had to just push all the snow up into a big pile, and then carve him out ;) I didn't have any coal, so I used Josie's dog food for his eyes, and mouth, and then mom surprised me, and told me she actually had a carrot, too! And then I got sticks and a hat and scarf and vwalla! I had a cute little snowman :) Josie looks so proud in the one picture, like she made it ;) I built it just out of her reach, so the whole time, she was laying there stretched out as far as she could to be as close as she could, and whenever I would move a lot, she would get up and jump around to get my attention. I love how every little thing makes dogs excited! The picture of her peeking out of her trap door is exactly the way she looked when I left Saturday morning. She loves to look out of her trap door. Usually when we get back from town or a trip or something, she runs around all excited and then bolts into her barn and peeks out the trap door.

Josie Funnies
These comics make me think of Josie! haha! Mom cut the one out of the newspaper of Odie playing dead, and she changed it to say Josie - hee, hee! Also, Josie has no concept of how to play fetch even though she's a RETRIEVER! She always lets stuff hit her in the face, she just squints if you throw food to her or try to teach her to play fetch! haha! She's always been deathly afraid of the water hose! If she's being a brat, all you have to do is pick up the water hose - even if it's not on, and she'll go hide on the other side of her dog house! haha! Whenever I give her a bath I have to dedicate my entire day to it because it's so much work! I usually end up getting just as wet as her, so I have to make sure it's a warm day because the hose water is always really cold! Before she was even full grown she dragged BOTH Julie and I when we were trying to hold her for mom to give her a bath. Now nobody else will give her a bath, so it's up to me, so I just tie her up short to a tree ;) Poor Jo! haha! She howls and wails the whole time! The comic at the top cracked me up, becauseJosie's so much like that, too. She barks at stuff that's not important at all, but then when someone comes to the door that I don't know when I'm home alone or something, or when we're on a walk and a deer runs right in front of us, she doesn't even see it or make a peep! haha! I try to point things out to her, but she just gets all excited about my hand coming down to her level. She's such a good gaurd dog! ha! Anyways, this is like a whole tribute to my dog or something - like I'm an animal psycho, writing and posting so much about my dog, and I'm going to do more, cause I took some more cute pictures of her while I was home haha! AND I'm going to post a comic for Berkely, too! :) Stay tuned, Jas, and Julia! ;)
On This Day...
On this day in History (February 4th):
in 1913, Rosa Lee Parks civil rights activist (bus protester) was born.
in 1957, Joseph Hardaway creator of Bugs Bunny, died at 66.
in 1854, Alvan Bovay proposed the name "Republican Party", Ripon WI.
in 1973, "No, No Nanette" closed at 46th St Theater NYC after 861 performances.
in 1984, Frank Aquilera set world frisbee distance record (168 meters) Las Vegas.
(I'm expecting either Jason or Jordan to beat that record this summer ;)
in 1991, US postage raises from 25¢ to 29¢
(wow - it's raised a lot already!)
in 1997, OJ Simpson found liable in murders of Ron Goldman & Nicole Simpson.
(makes me think of when Dan Rather thought he saw OJ in the back of a Jeep, and it was really a spare tire! hahaha! I'm so glad he retired, though I do miss his little observations like that! haha! But I DON't miss his whistle when he says his s's ;)
in 1998, Bill Gates gets a pie thrown in his face in Brussels Belgium
(that's random - kind of interesting - I wonder how much money he got for doing that?)
US Holiday: Kosciuszko Day (does anyone know what this day is?)
Switzerland : Homstrom-celebrates end of winter - - - - - ( Sunday )
(well, if it's the end of winter there, hopefully that means it almost is here, too - I think I already have spring fever!)
1873, Birth of George Bennard, American Methodist evangelist. He penned over 300 Gospel songs during his lifetime, but is primarily remembered today for one: "The Old Rugged Cross."
in 1874, English poet and devotional writer Frances Ridley Havergal, 37, penned the words to the popular hymn of commitment, "Take My Life and Let It Be [Consecrated, Lord, to Thee]."
1950 American missionary and martyr Jim Elliot resolved in his journal: 'I may no longer depend on pleasant impulses to bring me before the Lord. I must rather respond to principles I know to be right, whether I feel them to be enjoyable or not.'

New Year's Eve Party
Every year we celebrate the New Year by having a party at our house. We invite our church family and close friends. This year was the 10th year we've done it. At 4, all the guys come and play snow football, and then at 6 everyone brings their favorite game and snack, and then around 9, pastor usually gives a challenge and we sing. Most people stay till midnight - this time the last people left at 2:30, and then after everyone left, our family stayed up till 3:30 playing 3 men on a couch :) It was pretty pointless because it was so late none of us could keep track of names in our brains worth anything! But it was fun and funnny :) haha! New Years is one of my favorite times! :)
